CAMB AI Partners with the Maleku Community to Preserve Endangered Language

CAMB.AI has partnered with the Maleku community of Costa Rica in an effort to preserve their endangered indigenous language using artificial intelligence — part of the company's broader commitment to using its technology for linguistic and cultural preservation.

The Maleku language is spoken by only a few hundred people, placing it among the world's most at-risk languages. When a language disappears, so too does a unique way of understanding the world — its stories, knowledge, and identity. Traditional preservation efforts are labor-intensive and difficult to scale with such small speaker populations.

Working directly with the community, CAMB.AI applied its voice and language models to help document, synthesize, and revitalize the Maleku language — capturing not just words, but the voices and prosody that give them life. The goal is to create lasting resources that can be used to teach and pass the language to future generations.
